Report from your regional area – DCCC Northern (DCCCN)

10th Anniversary DCCCN at Pickering

The Deaf Caravanning and Camping Club (North) passed the 10 years running
of the regional area took a special celebration to thanksgiving
to the Northern members for their continuous support.

This was held at Pickering in North Yorkshire where 16 units (three of them came from South as far as 230 miles one way, to join in the celebration) gathered for Easter weekend and some stayed on for the Royal Wedding/Bank Holiday weekend. We were very fortunate with the glorious weather throughout our stay on a lovely surrounding campsite. (photo)

The Rally Officer and his Assistant prepared everything beforehand to make sure all goes to plan on the celebration weekend that most arrived on the Thursday before Good Friday, free day on the Saturday such as visiting Eden Camp, Scarborough, Whitby, Pickering and Flamingo Land (just down the road).

Bingo was held in the evening before the sun dusk, and relaxing ourselves to the pub nearby afterwards. (photo)

Sunday morning started the celebration with the long walk on a flat country.

The children and some adults who were still in full energy to continue joining the games/fun in the afternoon at the open field with real eggs throwing/catch (unfortunate some others were knackered from the unexpected long walk), some got splat on their face, others who won the games were cheated with having hard boiled eggs!!

Treasure hunt for the children to find Easter eggs (chocolate). There was one more chocolate egg left hidden somewhere not known where was it placed exactly, could end up melted on their vans or cars at a later date!!

The war started within the Deaf Campers, using “Water Fight”, many of them got plenty of energy left after the long walk, and some others were chickened out by staying indoors!! Others including all the children were heavily soaked but soon dry up after the sun shines!!

There were quite a number of Dogs within the Deaf Caravanners, and was planning to start the Dog Race but unfortunate all the Dogs was worn out after the long run around during the walks.

The same evening was gathered in a pub (private party) where Games, Hot and Cold Buffet were served, cakes provided, raffle prizes (D.C.C.C. uk donated a gift as a way of congratulation for the 10 years running), was held and a brief speech with the commemorative gifts for each unit as yellow umbrella with our Northern Logo on top, so this umbrella can be used for rain or on a very hot sunny day (i.e. in the shade).

The following day, (Easter Monday), many departed for home after had an enjoyable and unforgettable weekend with the great atmosphere throughout (10 years celebration, buffet, outdoor and indoor games, water fights, glorious weather throughout, and plenty to see surrounding the area), the others stayed on for few more extra nights relaxing. Roll on for another 10 years to the D.C.C.C. (North)
