2023 CDC Rally No.01 – Wolverley, Kidderminster, Worcestershire

Wolverley Camping and Caravanning Club Site
First rally of 2023 call spring, Our pitches were grass,
lovely place with 13 units together.
The Lock Pub
A lovely traditional pub alongside Wolverley Lock, and
just 2 minutes walked to Pub at Lock Inn from our campsite.

The Staffordshire and Worcester Canal
In the morning, we walked long by the canal
to Kidderminster about 2.5 miles, and …

…we saw a beautiful wood carved blue kingfisher opposite the canal.Rest for Morning Coffee
After a great walked along the canal
then we had tea at Costa in Kidderminster.

Rowland Hill Statue
In fact that we saw the statue of Sir Rowland Hill,
who inventor proposing an adhesive stamp to indicate pre-payment of postage
with the first being the Penny Black (1840), and he was born
in Blackwell Street, Kidderminster.


Red Post Box
Next to pillar box was King Edward V11 then everybody went to the pub for lunch.

Saturday 25th March 2023
The Museum of Carpet houses an extensive collection of objects, archives, books and photographs
relating to the carpet industry dating from the 18th century in Kidderminster that some of us arrived there.
This museum building is owned by Morrison, next to Morrison shopping.

First machine to make the carpet
In 1735, two ‘Stuff’ weavers became the first weavers of ‘Kidderminster’ carpet.
this picture is beautiful pattern carpet as demonstration.

Rock Houses
Some of us went there to see some quirky homes carved into sandstone.
Restored Holy Austin houses show how life was lived in the rock until the 1960s.
This rock houses had 3 level floor, 11 houses and 46 people who was live.
It were amazing to be seen, about five miles away from our campsite.
