2022 DCCC North Rally No.03 – Whittingham, Preston, Lancashire

Reported from Deaf Camping & Caravanning Club North (DCCCN) – May 2022

Whittingham, near Preston
The last rally held in York last October (2021 Rally No. 06) cause a bit of a problem,
especially the fuel crisis as many DCCCuk members couldn’t make it (fuel shortage).
This rally (2022 Rally No.03) at Whittingham, near Preston cause another problem,
fuel price shot up high, yet many came along to join the weekend
for fun and catch up a lot of news, since the lockdown from Covid.

Whittingham & Goosnargh Sport & Social Club
We met together on Thursday (a few on Friday). 18 units total (2 backed
down for a reason) with a limited power on the Hook-up (to 6 amps) but the site itself are in the middle of
transforming to a better area with 16 amps hook-up on grass & amp; hard-standing pitches.

Game of bowls
The weather was dry throughout the weekend, Saturday was a day of leisure
(some went to Longridge village or Preston for the day) and in the afternoon,
many of us decide to meet up on the bowling green and had a game of bowls, even in
competition while the sun was hot and shining.

Congratulation to Mike Carney who won the competition.
Condolence to Stephen Satchwell. Those who lose out in the first round of the competition
continue to play against another loser to enjoy the games.

Another event on that weekend
It was Janet Bamber’s 60th surprise party, organised by her partner Stephen as
he was in a difficult position to organise/prepare because
she has just recently moved in to live with him in Lincolnshire.
We all had to keep it to ourselves until 6pm Saturday. Janet was unaware of the situation especially
over the weekend (Stephen had to hide all the décor, cakes, presents),
until we all meet up in the hall for our usual ‘get together’ evening.
Janet knew something was going to happens for her birthday
as always in the past couple of years such as cake giving out,
a small gathering outside their unit but nothing like this to happens (hall hired and food provided).

Playing games
During the evening, we had some games, photos taken
with model shown on serviettes and had a lovely hot buffet.

Sunday was a day of relaxing before parted for home.
Many would like to return in the future on a better area.
