Rally Report from Deaf campers South West (DCSW) – June 2023
Every warm nights!
All were outside surrounding by the lights,
those who rely on visual communication such as sign language
from mornings till after sundown and continue through the night time!
The Three Magpies
Friends and families with children of all ages were enjoyed at this
campsite pub, there’s a large play area and pets are welcome too.
The owner members’ dogs had a very playful and freedom
running about as long as people have gathered together to enjoy them.

Good Morning!
Every warm mornings with the sun rising, they had their breakfast
at their tables outdoors surrounding their caravanning!
Some of them spotted the Sun’s morning halo (the ring rainbow).

Bath
Some of them went in the city of Bath to see the weir
near Pulteney Bridge and the Royal Crescent is a row
of 30 terraced houses laid out in a sweeping crescent.

Westbury White Horse
The first Westbury white horse is believed to have been cut to celebrate
the victory over the Danes in the Battle of Ethandium in 878AD.
This location they visited with their dogs where is the one of the
best of the White Horses due to its prominent location.
David mentioned there are eight Wiltshire White Horses still remain on view today.
Bradford-on-Avon
Some of our members went to this town is a pretty destination
with several interesting historic sights in the county of Wiltshire.

They said Bradford-on-Avon is a really special little place with a full
of atmosphere and worth the climb up to a unique chapel with a wonderful view
from a bench to sit on which it was only accessible on foot.

Modern colour tumble tower
Our Let’s Play Colour Tumble Tower is designed specifically for challenge.
Simply build the tower and roll the dice, which features a different colour on each face.
(You then pull out a block that matches the colour that you rolled on the dice,
the colour featured in the Tumble Tower are green, orange, yellow. blue and red.)
With laughing that they find it so challenge due followed by rolled the dice!

Duck Fishing!
The goal of this game was to hook as many ducks as you can,
the most likely winner by a hook within the time.

Kennet & Avon Canal
At 87 miles long, links London with the Bristol Channel, and passes
through some spectacular landscapes including Wiltshire that where
we stayed the campsite, we just walked to join along the canal to the Caen Hill Locks.

Caen Hill Locks
Walked along the towpath with amazing to view from the bottom of the canal,
looking at the locks which has 16 locks known as Caen Hill with some
fascinating dragonflies, damselflies, and birds, also Grey Heron around the waterside.
This locks are the longest continuous straight flight of locks in the country.

Stopped and rest at Cean Lock Café
We all met up together at the café, some of them were came by walked, others by bus.
We enjoyed their snacked, drinks or ice cream with a smashing view the canal and side pond.
One of the volunteers at the canal said the long boat might take 2 to 3 hours
from the bottom to the top through the 16 locks, and each side ponds
stores water equivalent of two Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Devizes
After the break at Cean Hill Cafe, taking 25 minutes up the canal to join the town called Devizes.
They browsed the medieval market town and stayed the pub where we all have their lunch break.
Then some of them went walked back to the campsite by following the canal path.
Many members greeted and congratulation to our president, William Rowley at 83,
who did walked completely in 8.1 miles.

“War”
Each child had being squirted with water guns and
having buckets water thrown at them to soak.
We called it – Great Summer Water Party!

So Close!
Mary was expected to win her last round final
that she got her high card as ‘Queen’
but John got a King!!!

Just before midnight
They went to have their rest night
because they were fully engaged – hectic!
Roast Dinner!
Eaten them before they went home today,
the dinners were cooked by slow roasted meats served
with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, vegetables & gravy.
So pleasant to the taste it!
Thank you!
Much appreciated for those who came with us for the weekend,
we are welcome two members newcomers are
Terry Mason & Emma Trainor,
also members from Scotland, CDC, WDC and DCCCN were here today.
And thank you to Neil & Mary, and David for lend us to use their gazebos
for us to sit surrounding under the shade from the hot sun.

William was here for the weekend to stay with Derek,
he finds our atmosphere were lovely & wonderful by seeing many children and members together,
who enjoyed themselves with their day outings, games at the sites, and socialising too.
And Diane & David Morton encouraged to make this happened, they were good.
